Ingredients
We’re passionate about sourcing the highest quality organic ingredients, and supporting sustainable agricultural practises, locally and around the world. We believe great products begin with the best ingredients, and we’re blessed to work with amazing ingredients from some incredible growers. These are the real heroes behind the food we eat, and we’re highlighting some of their stories here.
Organic Peruvian Cacao
We use organic Peruvian cacao in every product we make. Our cacao comes from the San Martín, Huánuco, Pasco and Ucayali regions of Peru, where sustainable agricultural practises are employed and about 24,000 families who cultivate cacao in these regions are being directly impacted and supported.
Australian Grown Organic Raw Carob Powder
We use an exquisite, locally grown organic raw carob powder coming direct from the growers Michael and Jam Jolley in Booborowie, South Australia at the Australian Carob Company.
The carob orchard is home to a thoughtfully curated selection of sweet varieties of carob trees, employing sustainable farming practises meaning no pesticides or insecticides are used. This is the most exquisite carob we’ve ever tasted! Unlike other carob on the market, this carob is processed at temperatures under 40 degrees, and milled to a very fine powder.
This carob is high in protein, rich in fiber and contains essential vitamins and minerals. We add it to all our chocolate to create greater depth of flavour and a natural sweetness.
Organic Australian Grown Hazelnuts
We use the freshest and most delicious organic hazelnuts we have ever tasted, locally sourced from hazelnut growers in North East Victoria and Northern Tasmania.
Unlike hazelnuts grown overseas which can sometimes be years old, these hazelnuts are super fresh and taste absolutely incredible! They might be more expensive, but they are absolutely worth it!
Hazelnuts are a great source of vitamin E, copper and manganese. We use them in the bases of our slices including: choc orange, Turkish delight, choc mint, salted caramel, hazelnut ganache and choc espresso.
Wild Harvested Local Pink Lake Salt
We add a touch of Pink Lake Salt in all our products to help naturally enhance the flavour and add extra dimension and depth. Each year a small amount of Pink Lake Salt is hand harvested from a vast lake in Western Victoria and is a collaboration project between Mount Zero and the Barengi Gadjin Land Council, representing the Wimmera's traditional land custodians. The lake is fed by natural salt aquifers and each summer dries out to reveal a bed of salt with a natural pink hue.
This salt is a concentrated store of natural mineral nutrients - rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulphur, iron, manganese, zinc and copper as well as being rich in beta carotene. It has an incredible aroma and flavour that makes this salt so special and unique!
